It strengthens the hands, arms, shoulders, inner thighs and abdominal muscles. Crow is an empowering pose that, while challenging, is accessible with a strong, steady yoga practice. Though this is an advanced level pose, for a more practicing kakasana enables a person to face their weaknesses. Crow pose, also sometimes called crane pose, is usually the first arm balance that yoga students learn.
